Disability Lending for Climate Resilience and Emergency Preparedness

Disability Finance Session, OFN Conference
October 17, 2023 – People with Disabilities (PWD) comprise over 60 million people in the United States. They are three-times more likely to be underbanked and nearly twice as likely to be turned down for credit than those without a disability. CDFIs want to understand this underserved market better and determine how to serve best. In this session, we highlighted how disability finance aligns with current CDFIs financial services and identified some of the key differences.

September 14, 2023 – This webinar provides a primer on housing policy for People with Disabilities and provides a wide range of case studies of housing development by NDFC members. CDFI Re(Certification)
August 10, 2023 – Presented in conjunction with Friedman Associates, this webinar will break down specific changes to the Certification Application that will require all existing certified CDFIs to recertify. We will also outline proposed changes related to Persons with Disabilities as an Other Target Population.
Disability Finance Resources and Success Stories
March 22, 2023 – Hear from the Institute on Disability about its Disability Compendium, web-based tools that pool disability statistics into one place, often at the state and county level. NDFC member SELF showcases recent success stories and financial products serving people with disabilities. And our Government Affairs consultant provides an update on policy developments in Congress and at the CDFI Fund.

OFN Conference, New York, NY
October 21, 2022 – NDFC led a session at the OFN Conference in New York City. The presentation showcased disability finance. We celebrated Trailblazer Award winner Genesis Community Loan Fund, as well as honorable mention organizations. Northwest Access Fund provided an overview of Assistive Technology and Chicago Community Loan Fund described how they have incorporated Disability into their DEI strategy.
